CONTENT

The National Migration Policy (NMP) 2020-2030 serves as a blueprint for migration governance in The Gambia. It aligns with the National Development Plan (NDP) 2018-2021 and international frameworks like the African Union guidelines and the Global Compact for Migration.

OBJECTIVE

The policy aims to maximize the development potential of migration while ensuring the protection and dignity of all migrants. It addresses irregular migration challenges and promotes regular migration pathways.

Specific Objectives

  1. Governance: Strengthen institutional frameworks for migration management.

  2. Legislation: Develop legislative structures to support migration policy implementation.

  3. Human Rights: Ensure full respect for migrants' rights, both within The Gambia and abroad.

  4. Development: Leverage migration for socio-economic growth and poverty reduction.

  5. Stakeholder Collaboration: Foster partnerships with civil society and international organizations.

  6. Awareness: Raise public awareness about migration dynamics and opportunities.
