Ministry of Gender Children and Social Welfare Strategic plan 2021-2025

OBJECTIVE

The main objective of the Strategic Plan (2021-2025) for the Ministry of Women, Children, and Social Welfare in The Gambia is to establish a comprehensive framework for achieving gender equality, women empowerment, child protection, and social welfare. It focuses on addressing social injustices, reducing vulnerabilities, and fostering sustainable development through effective policy implementation, capacity-building, partnerships, and resource mobilization.

CONTENT

The specific objectives of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare Strategic Plan 2021-2025 are;

1. Strengthen Institutional Capacity: 

  • Build an efficient ministry with enhanced human resource capabilities.
  • Improve governance, monitoring, and evaluation systems to enforce policies and ensure accountability.

2. Gender Equality and Women Empowermen:

  • Mainstream gender equality in policies and programs.
  • Address harmful practices and strengthen women’s participation in economic and decision-making processes.

3. Child Protection and Development:

  • Ensure children's rights are upheld through improved child protection systems.
  • Combat violence, exploitation, and neglect, while supporting vulnerable children and families.

4. Integrated Social Protection:

  • Provide equitable access to social protection services for vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities, the elderly, and those in poverty.
  • Develop coordinated and inclusive social welfare systems.

5. Partnership and Advocacy:

  • Strengthen collaboration with stakeholders, including CSOs and private entities.
  • Promote public awareness and advocacy on gender equality, child welfare, and social protection policies.

6. Resource Mobilization:

  • Enhance financial resources through government allocations, donor partnerships, and innovative funding strategies.

7. Sustainable Development and Resilience:

  • Address inequalities and foster long-term resilience in communities through livelihood opportunities and access to education, health, and basic services.
