OBJECTIVE
The National Gender Policy 2025–2034 of The Gambia seeks to advance gender equality and empower women and girls as vital components of sustainable development, peace, and prosperity. The policy builds on prior initiatives and is shaped through an inclusive consultative process involving policymakers, civil society organizations, and communities.
CONTENT
The specific objectives of the National Gender Policy are to:
- Mainstream gender into all national and sectoral policies, programs, and budgets.
- Address persistent gender inequalities across education, health, governance, and economic development.
- Combat harmful practices and gender-based violence.
- Enhance women's participation in decision-making and leadership.
- Strengthen institutional frameworks and mechanisms for gender equality.
